Professional Development Series – “Unmasking Racism Workshops”

Join your colleagues from the SPHERE schools to learn about the complexity of racism and ways it impacts our campuses.
November 18, 2015 at Loomis Chaffee School

Level 1: This interactive workshop provides participants with a foundational understanding of systemic racism. The complexity of racism and ways it manifests at the individual, institutional, internalized and ideological levels will be examined.
Joan Edwards, Kingswood Oxford School
Sheri Schmidt, The Ethel Walker School

Level 2: This advanced interactive workshop requires previous awareness of systemic racism. Participation in the Level 1 “Unmasking Racism” workshop or a similar experience examining racism beyond the level of individual prejudice is required. Participants will explore specific ways ideological racism shapes our ability to create inclusive institutions.
