About Mooreland Hill School

Mooreland Hill School is a community of learning that holds high academic standards. The Mooreland community also holds its students accountable to equally high behavioral standards.

As individuals, M.H.S. students are pushed to explore and stretched to reach their potential academically, athletically, and artistically. As members of a caring and close community, students are encouraged and expected to be involved in the life of the School and actively contribute to the common good.

Mooreland Hill School is a special place for 5th through 8th graders – an academically challenging and supportive environment that, for 75 years, has placed special value on creativity, civility, and community.

Creativity: Our students are given opportunities to discover and develop untapped talents in an environment that applauds effort as well as success. Mooreland students are inspired to be curious, imaginative, and unique without being afraid to have to try again.

Civility: Students are expected to be sensitive to the needs of others; to be respectful not only of teachers, coaches, and staff but also of each other, the school, and other communities; to lose and win graciously; to accept criticism without hostility and receive praise with humility; and to be held up as role models for being honest, trustworthy, accomplished people of good character and good humor.

Community: Always valued as individuals with unique gifts and challenges and supported in their quests to become independent thinkers, M.H.S. students are all members of a community where teamwork, involvement, outreach, and the sharing of one’s gifts are considered just as important as independence and individuality. They are members of a community where people of diverse backgrounds and ideas come together to understand and celebrate not only what makes them different, but also what they have in common.
